Holiday Gift Giving Online

December 9th, 2010

Can you remember the excitement of Christmas Eve as a child? Although it has been a good many years since I experienced that joy, I haven’t forgotten what it was like waiting breathlessly to see Santa in all his glory with loads of presents and goodies. Now I watch the grandkid’s eyes shine.

Each year millions of children eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus. Perhaps the most difficult night for youngsters to fall asleep is the night when St. Nick is due to arrive.

Santa is not the only holiday figure that is so anxiously awaited each year. All around the world, gift givers make scheduled stops at the houses of all good little boys and girls. Some even stop where boys and girls have not been so good.

The roots of the Christmas present extend to ancient times. The gift giving tradition we are familiar with today is perhaps the most like Victorian England. The Victorians brought warmth and spirit to Christmas by making family a part of the holiday celebration.

The Victorians had parties that were a lot of messy fun. Each family member was assigned a color. In a room crisscrossed with yarn of various colors, each person followed an assigned color through the web of yarn until he or she reached the present tied to the end.

Because friendliness and charity fill many hearts during the Christmas season, giving gifts is natural. An expression of kindness and love is the ultimate reason for giving a gift. Whether the gift is for a loved one or a friend from work, you want that person to know they are appreciated.

Although gift giving continues throughout the year, it seems Christmas is the one holiday when people spend hours searching for the right gift, wrapping and stashing it away until the final moment.

Want To Triple Consumer Interaction To Your Advertising?

December 5th, 2010

Mobile Marketing may just be the best kept secret in the world of advertising. Perhaps the best form of supplementary advertising; mobile marketing provides a measurable form of engagement with consumers, one that heavily increases interaction with your advertisements by providing alternate calls to action.

Spicers, a New Zealand financial planning and investment firm found out just how successful a well implemented mobile marketing campaign can be when they incorporated an SMS response component into their latest radio campaign. Over the course of this campaign, three different ways in which consumers could engage with the advertisements were offered: text, internet and a free phone number. The results were overwhelming, with SMS being identified as by far the preferred method of interaction, with it garnering 75% of total responses. Statistically, the mobile marketing component of this campaign tripled the number of responses compared with those received via more traditional forms of engagement – the internet and a free phone number.

Black and White, a player in the New Zealand cellphone market showed that the results received by Spicers were far from an aberration, achieving comparable results. Their campaign originally offered two separate ways in which consumers could engage with their advertisements – a free phone telephone number or via SMS. The number of SMS responses overwhelmed those received via the freephone number. The results allowed Black and White to do away with the freephone number, utilizing SMS as their sole method of interaction whilst saving capital previously budgeted for the freephone number.

So why is SMS by far the most popular method of interaction chosen by respondents?

Social protocol is an important factor to consider in the decision of many people to text. Calling can often be impractical and is at other times considered inappropriate – whereas texting is simple, quiet and quick. Internet responses are often also inadequate and difficult for many, as they’re far less likely to be accessible. For the majority of people though a cellular phone is an appropriate and immediate option as they’re nearly always on hand.

A Couple Of The Best Added Features With The Apple IPhone 4

November 24th, 2010

Apple has recently brought out the new iPhone onto the market and it has come along with several distinctive new features that you can enjoy. Let’s quickly consider some of the new and updated features of the Apple iPhone 4.

Two of the most discussed new features of this new iPhone has certainly been the five megapixel camera that has been added, and the new face time feature. These have certainly garnered a significant amount of media attention, but there are other slightly less publicised features that have also been added. So what exact they are these?

One of these is the noise suppression technology that has been added to the iPhone. Instead of simply having the one microphone on the device there are now two at the top and the bottom of the iPhone. This technology simply makes it a lot easier to converse with someone when you are in a noisy environment.

The new iPhone also has a visual voicemail. Essentially, this will allow you to look at all of the different voicemail messages that you have in your inbox. As such, you can listen to them as and when you please without having to listen to the whole bunch in order just to hear a certain message.

Voice control has been updated as well. While this isn’t a new feature it is certainly technology that has advanced and your ability to control different aspects of the iPhone are far more extensive. For example, if you were listening to some music you could even ask the iPhone to tell you what the name of the song is.

One of the changes that simply hasn’t occured involves the pricetag of the iPhone 4. With all of these new features added there has been no reduction in price, but certainly you couldn’t really expect that given this fact.

Is There An Ethical Consideration In Corporate Gift Giving

November 16th, 2010

Corporate gift giving is a touch impersonal than when we give gifts to friends or loved ones. Fundamentally, when we give gifts to people we know, we tend to consider if the recipient will be pleased with what we have given them. In corporate gift giving, however, this consideration is usually absent.

These gifts are expensive things and they normally do not have any role to play in marketing the products or services of the organization, which means that they do not have any reference to the company. However, businesses often do promotion through distribution of merchandise like pens, mouse pads, USB drives, and other gifts to the workforce and prospective customers.

At the time of giving a corporate gift, it is nevertheless critical to keep in consideration the interests of the individual to whom the gift is being presented, and attempt to customize it accordingly. Business gifting should always be chosen with the recipient in mind. There is no point giving a gift – particularly a corporate gift – to an individual who will not appreciate what we have gifted. We should be looking to create a ‘WOW’ wherever possible.

The effect of the corporate gift on the rapport with a customer or an employee depends on how expensive the person perceives the gift to be. Before giving a corporate gift, you should enquire with your legal department regarding any constraints that may have been imposed by law on this act.

It’s important to prepare for corporate gift-giving beforehand by setting a budget, planning the number of gifts to buy, and hunting for volume discounts with retailers. The preparation is more important with respect to employee gifts, even more so if your organization is a mid-sized or large corporation. You should procure the correct number of gifts so that no employee whom you wish to appreciate is missed out.

Finally, corporate gift giving, if accomplished within ethical limits, is a great way of keeping favorable relations with the staff and of strengthening the bonds of partnership between clients and the company. Just keep two things in mind – the law and your expenditure.

Global Economic Depression Must Not Put A Damper On The Essence Of Corporate Gift Giving

October 16th, 2010

The success of a company is felt in the way it can weather the storms of worldwide economic recession. One important component to stay focused on is keeping the loyalty of clients and business partners. Business associates are a variable group of individuals, and are known to cancel investments when a company least expects it. To keep business bonds, a meaningful corporate gift can help retain business associates’ vested interests with the firm.

The fate of any business organization is controlled by the power to retain and build great relationships with their customers as well as draw in new customers. In competitive economic times you need the business from your customers more than ever. You may not be resourceful to secure new business easily but if you have taken care of your clients in the past they will stay with you even when times are tough. To ensure that your clients always know that you treasure them giving them appropriate gifts will always plant great seeds for the future. Giving is always the first step to getting and not the other way around

A corporate gift should be judiciously selected keeping the recipient in mind, as in case the gift does not appeal to the recipient, the purpose of giving a gift would be defeated. The gift may be attached to a promotional initiative, while introducing a new product, or simply distributed at regular intervals to keep the customer in a good spirit.

Corporate gifts can range from cost-effective products like coffee mugs, small gift items and stationery to more costly and refined items like a bottle of good wine. The gift could be sealed with the company’s logo to ensure that it remains in the memory of the receiver for a long time.

However, it is very essential to examine the quality of the gift because it represents the name and reputation of the company. An inferior gift will only be a futile effort as it won’t be able to convey the thankfulness that the company wants to show to its customers. In times like these when companies are confronting economic problems and are looking out for cost effective solutions, it is better to avoid making a poor impression on your clients.

Corporate gifts, if utilized correctly, display qualities that make them an effective and efficient marketing tool. If used intelligently, they can strengthen business bonds even through the storm of economic downturn.
