Amazing Design – Sennheiser HD 595 Headphones
The awesome reputation of the Sennheiser HD 595 headphones is due largely to the revolutionary angled drivers known as their E.A.R technology. This is also referred to as ‘open-aire’. Basically, it is designed so the drivers are at an optimal position to focus the music into your ears as opposed directly at your ears. This results in a lot less interference, leaving the sound much purer.
Some more great features of these are the light weight voice coils and Duofol drivers. The voice coils are made of aluminum ensuring they have a very low mass and can thus be much more responsive. This makes the headphones have more snap, punch and dynamics. The Duofol technology on the other hand greatly reduces standing waves produced inside the headphones which is great. Many have said that the low end on these is a little bit reserved. While this may be true in comparison to modern closed headphones which are designed to be super bassy, it can be a sore point for some. So to fix that you can pair it with a nice headphone amp or even a nice eq to lift the bass a little.
Impressively the response for these headphones is from around 10 to 40k hertz. This beats the human ear itself which can only detect sounds between 20 and 20k. Pretty amazing. Another great thing about these is that they come with a little hanger to keep them at arms reach. If however you do find your phones getting beaten up and worn relatively quickly, then rest assured because Sennheiser still makes all their spare parts.
Since these are open style headphones, expect a lot of bleed from them. This is simply the price to pay for such great sound. You see, closed type headphones can never deliver the level of dynamics and fidelity that open headphones can deliver. It comes down to physics at the end of the day. The amazingly light and brilliant open design, makes these an experience in themselves.
The headphones will deliver years of incredible sound and pleasure to you. The meticulous design, awesome technology and brilliant features are a real bargain at this price. I would recommend them for jazz, classical or rock fans or anyone who appreciates great audio for that matter. Sennheiser rarely make bad products anyway but this seems to be one of their crowning achievements. Try them out for yourself.
