The Need For One To Find The Best Computer Network Support Provider

March 15th, 2011

In this fast-paced and competitive world, the computer is becoming a very important item. Through its constant improvements it has introduced very functional features that make it a great invention. This is why every home or office needs this gadget. Apart from keeping up with various improvements, there is also the need to keep your machine running properly and connecting with other systems. This is why computer network support is necessary.

Although it might sound simple, finding the right provider to offer you these services might not be that easy. This is because you are not only looking for a provider with the certifications but one with all the required knowledge. This is not debatable as the technicians must be able to deliver in keeping your systems fully functional.

One of the things your service experts ought to know about involves extending the network when necessary, even if it requires putting in hubs or slicing wires to replace old connectors with new ones. In short, they need to be acquainted with the necessary procedures.

The company you choose should also have a vast knowledge not only of hardware but also of software. For example, in the case of the security systems the expert should make sure that they are working perfectly and he should also recommend software to protect your machine from viruses.

Another area where such a company will play an important role is managing the company websites. With almost every company having their own website it would help you cut costs if you get a provider who understands corporate networks and web development. This will also provide you with a smooth working environment hence leading to a higher productivity.

Security is another area where an expert might be of help. If you want to have a more accurate control of employees and want to have security video software installed, you will need the help of a computer provider. Suppose you want to improve your communications system and want to have video conference available in your office with the support of an expert you will notice how the company turns cost-efficient.

Hence, competent computer network support givers ought to do more than merely improve your current PC and its related systems. Apart from offering you high ranking protection services and advanced components, it is vital that they maintain the efficient running of your equipment.

Caring And Valuing Your Computer

January 19th, 2011

Having a laptop computer brings fun, ease and convenience that cannot be appreciated until you experience it for yourself. That being said, since it is the constant companion of the user, there are things that you can do to protect it and extend its lifespan while adding some things that will make it easier and much more enjoyable to use.

Get yourself a nice, soft and comfortable laptop pad or cushion to use when you are sitting in the living room or in bed. It will keep your legs from sweating from the heat leaving the machine, and at the same time, you will allow for better air flow to move through out the laptop.

Keeping good air flow through the inside of the laptop is very important because the inside parts are very sensitive to heat, and need to move air in and out of them very quickly. A pad will help air to move throughout the unit the way it is supposed to.

Laptop bags are important to have too. Just throwing the computer on your bed or tossing it in the back seat is not a safe or smart way to move your laptop around. You should go and get a laptop bag or case that you can use to minimize the risk of damage from everyday use and general wear and tear. They are just the thing you need to protect your computer.

Also, gently put down your computer on the desk or table, don’t slam it. And also be very careful when you are walking with it or moving it somewhere else.

Getting a mouse for your laptop will make it easier to maneuver without having to use the standard touch pad that is found on most systems. The technique takes some getting used to, and some people just don’t like it.

Get some good headphones as well. That way when you are playing some music when you are working, you don’t have to listen to it through the speakers on the computer. The sound quality will be much better and they are not that expensive either.

As soon as you get some headphones, you will appreciate the advise. The sound is so much better with them than through the speakers on the laptop, and the people that you are in the same room with will also appreciate them more than you will know.

Here’s How To Get To Your Applications Quicker To Save Some Time

September 11th, 2010

There are many different ways to make your computer faster out there, but once you have that handled there really is a limited amount of things that you can do to increase your productivity. One of these things being to simply make your applications quicker to get to. Think about it just for a second – how much time could you save if you were able to get to your applications quicker?

How much would you save if you were to add it up for a whole week or how about a month? I’m willing to bet that for the average person it would add up to a lot and even if it didn’t, being able to get to your programs quicker is just much more convenient. The user interface is something that you use frequently – you might as well spend some time to make it as convenient for you to use.

To being, let’s start off with the quick launch (if you not sure, the quick launch is that little group of icons that are right beside your start button). If you don’t see a little group of icons right beside your start menu, just right click on the taskbar and select Properties and then select Show Quick Launch to get them there. Now, in order for you to do anything you are going to have to unlock the quick launch. To do that, just right click on the task bar and select the Lock Taskbar option. By now you should be able to see some dotted lines which will allow you to resize it the quick launch window. Now all you have to do is to just find the top 3 applications that you use the most and then go through your All Programs list in the start menu and right click on their icons and select Copy. To add them, just go to your desktop, right click and select Paste. Now you should now see a copy of that icon on your desktop – all you have to do now to complete this is to just drag it into the quick launch area and the icon should be in bottom right hand corner next to the start menu (you can delete the shortcut that you copied to your desktop now since you will not be needing it). So every time that you start up your computer or just log on you don’t have to look all over the place those 3 programs – there right in front of you.

Now the start menu can also be of use to you when you are looking around for your applications. If you click on the start menu you will notice a faint horizontal line on the left hand side. Everything that is above this line is permanently there unless you manually remove it and everything below this line is programs that you have most recently used. What you’re going to want to do here is to add 3-5 programs that you use regularly to the permanent (the top part) of the list. Just go to All Programs on the start menu, right click on the program icon and select “Pin To Start Menu”. Do this for all 3-5 programs that you want to add to your start menu. Now you have your main 3 programs on your task bar and the other 3-5 regularly used ones on your start menu so you don’t have look around your computer to find where they are.

To take it to the next level you can spend some time cleaning up your desktop. A messy desktop can really slow down your ability to find what you are looking for. Delete all files that are unnecessary and put all important files into folders that are organized. You should really only have shortcuts to your applications and maybe a few important folders on your desktop.

Registry Cleaners Will Provide A Number Of Useful Benefits

August 23rd, 2010

Registry cleaners are special software programs that help resolve problems with the Windows operating system. These software programs will help in removing items that are either unwanted or redundant and in this way restores the Windows registry to its proper state. Though it pays to use such software, there are nevertheless many that argue that they are not necessary or even useful.

Registry cleaners are used to solve problems related to the elimination of configuration data from the Windows registry, especially that information that is no longer required or wanted by the Windows operating system. The data to be removed can be information that has been left behind by software that has not been uninstalled and it can also be information that is redundant or even settings that malware use to do damage to the computer. Cleaning up the registry will help in picking out unnecessary values which will then be repaired or even deleted.

These cleaning programs provide many benefits but the most notable benefit is that of helping to ensure that your computer runs more efficiently after the cleaning has been affected. The registry holds much complex and voluminous information that cannot be searched by manual means.

This is where specialized software can be helpful as it automates the entire process of searching out invalid entries as well as any missing references to files or even broken links. Once this information is located it can then easily be resolved through use of the correct registry cleaning software.

Correcting registry keys that are invalid can prove to be very beneficial which is why such software programs are much in demand. Some of these cleaners can also do other services such as backing up the hard drive and also restoring certain functions that will help to restore the registry to a state before any changes were made. This is especially useful when some changes are made but which are undesirable and so it is necessary to restore the registry to its original condition.

If you are constantly adding or removing programs from your computer then using such cleaner software programs can prove to be very useful.

There are a few downsides to using such software as well. The biggest such downside is that the cleaner does not address the severity of the fault and can easily flag an error (erroneously) as being critical when in actual fact there is nothing serious wrong. So, before using such software, it makes sense to determine whether using such programs is desirable or even necessary.

A Brief Understanding Of Selecting Registry Cleaners

August 23rd, 2010

It is easy for anyone to understand that there is a large variety of registry cleaners that can be purchased to treat computer problems. Different programs will be able to offer varying options for the treatment of the problem. But if you are not experienced with these types of programs, you may be unsure about what you should use. Some of the accompanying information may be able to help you understand the use of these programs further.

For the most part, when there are repeated issues occurring on a computer, it is likely because of the registry. This can happen when there have been numerous programs installed into the computer, which later edit the registry in some format. If the registry never updates after the deletion of these programs or there are too many conflicting keys in the registry, it results in problems.

In order to treat the problem, registry cleaner programs were created. Though all of these programs will claim to make solving the problem easier, you are not going to get the same options with all of them. There will be various approaches and solutions as you examine different types of programs. Because of this, you need to research about what each program can offer your computer before you decide to buy it.

Some computers may require an in depth cleaning of the registry. In these cases, you might find that you will need to use the program repeatedly to help you solve all of the problems. If you are using more professional or reliable software, you might be able to pick and choose settings that will allow you to get everything in the first run.

All registry cleaner programs have to perform a scan before the real cleaning can happen. If no scan is occurring during the use of the program, then there is no way of knowing what the registry problems are. You might want to opt for using a cleaner that can tell you about specific problems after each scan. This will allow you to know what programs you should avoid using in order to prevent the problems from occurring again.

It is very important that you are able to choose a registry cleaner that is trustworthy. You need to understand that even though there are many cleaners available for use, not all of them are going to give you the best results. You will likely come across a number of programs on the internet that also claim to be cleaners but are disguised malware.

For anyone that has been experiencing repeated crashes on their computer, using a registry cleaner can be a great help. Registry cleaners can be a helpful method for solving computer problems, but they are not always able to fix every problem that you are experiencing. If you continue to have issues, you may want to have a technician examine your computer.

How To Tune Your Windows Vista Operating System For Performance

August 18th, 2010

If you have switched over from XP to Vista you surly will have known by now that Vista is much slower. This lack of speed has to do with Vista dedicating a lot of its resources to trying to “look pretty”. Making the operating system look nice is great and all but when it comes time to actually get some work done it can be a huge problem. In this article I am going to show you two quick ways to make your Vista perform a it faster but you are going to have to be willing to sacrifice some of Vistas looks in order to get more function. Keep in mind that there really is no point in having your computer look really nice since you are the only person that is really going to be seeing it.

If you are using the Home Premium, Enterprise, Business or Ultimate more likely than not you have the Aero effect turned on. This effect is designed to make your computers windows have a glass like effect that looks cool. It also allows you to have Windows Flip 3D which is just a fancy version of the Alt + Tab combination which allows you to cycle through your currently opened programs. If your not sure what the Flip 3D is, just open a few programs, hold down the Windows Button and press the Tab key a few times – that’s Windows Flip 3D. Now hold down the Alt key and press the Tab key a few times – that’s the old way of cycling through your programs. Here’s how to get rid of the Aero effect:

Click Start, click on Control Panel and on the left hand side make sure that the Control Panel Home is selected. Click on Appearance and Personalize, click on Personalize, click on Windows Color and Appearance and at the bottom select “Open classic appearance properties for more color options”. Now in this new window under the Color Scheme drop down box select Windows Vista Basic. Click Apply and then OK. This should turn off the Aero effect.

One of the biggest features that Vista has that is pretty much useless is the sidebar. Unless you are actually using the Windows gadgets on the sidebar regularly then its probably best that you get rid of it. It literally serves no purpose to the average user except to make your computers desktop look nice. Here’s the process:Right click on the windows sidebar icon in the System Tray and select the properties option from the drop down menu ( if your not sure what the system tray is, its that little group of icons in the bottom right hand corner). Now, in the Windows Sidebar Properties dialog box uncheck the box that says “Start Sidebar when Windows Starts” and select Apply and then OK. Now just right click on the Windows Sidebar Icon in the system tray again and select Exit.

By doing both of these things you have now given yourself some more resources to use which in the long run will make your computer faster.

Why Cleaning Up After Windows Can Make Your Slow Computer Faster

August 18th, 2010

Why is your computer slow? Well the answer to that question is beyond the scope of this text but I will tell you that it has to do with your computer building up junk in many different areas in time. The more of these areas that you clean up the faster your computer will be – it’s that simple. Take a look at registry cleaners – they are designed to clean up all of the junk and inefficiencies that build up in your registry to make it faster. The only problem with registry cleaners is that they focus on one area of your computer which will only give you so much of an advantage while there are many different areas of your computer that need to be cleaned. This is why using registry cleaners really aren’t a complete solution to making your computer faster – they only clean one small area while there are many different areas that need to be either cleaned or tuned for performance.

Your computer operating system uses RAM as a temporary working area for files and programs but sometimes those files that are being used in RAM are going to also need a temporary working area. This new temporary working area is a folder on your hard drive called the Temp folder. When your files in your RAM are done using the Temp folder Windows will automatically delete everything in that folder. The issue happens when your computer freezes, hangs or you end a program. All of the files that were in the Temp folder are still in there and they haven’t been deleted. This may not sound like much but after time these files can add up to a lot and start to slow your computer down. Here is how you get rid of them:

For those of you that are using Windows XP start off by simply closing all of your running files and programs and then clicking on the Start button. next, click on Run and type %Temp% in the little box that appears and then hit the enter button. Whats going to happen now is that you’re going to get another window that will show you what’s in the Temp folder. All you have to do now is to just delete everything that you can in that folder. If for what ever reason it says that you cannot delete a certain file, just skip it and then just move onto the next file.

For those of you that are currently using Windows Vista, close all of your running programs and files, click Start in the left hand corner of your screen and type Run in the start menu search box. A small Run window should comes up now. Just type %Temp% and hit enter. Now what you are going to want to do is to delete everything that you see in that folder. If there are some files that you cannot delete that are in that folder, then just ignore them and move onto the next one.

By cleaning up your Temp folder regularly you are first freeing up your computer of hard drive space which will make it run faster in the long run (it will have less files that it will have to manage) and your computer will also have less internal errors.

Spyware And How Its Slowing Down Your Computer

July 16th, 2010

Why should you be worried about spyware? That’s actually a really good question. See, spyware is a form of malware that is used to log information on someone without them knowing. Some of the most common things that are logged are things like usernames, passwords, credit card information and even bank account information. Malware is software that is also installed on a users computer without them knowing but is designed to damage your computer (this is why the mal in malware stands for malicious). Since spyware is a piece of software that runs in the background of your computer, it will take up your computers resources and this leads to it slowing down your computer.

Overall the point that I’m trying to make here is that spyware is bad and you should be protecting yourself against it at all costs. I personally use two different pieces of software to protect myself against spyware. One prevents spyware from ever getting into my computer and another is used to find and remove spyware that already on my computer. I suggest using both as you will get a much better level of protection.

The first is called MalwareBytes Anti Malware and is a free program. Once you have installed it on your computer perform a full scan to fully scan your hard drive. I highly recommend doing this as it will go through each and every single file on your computer individually to make sure that it is not infected. Once a full scan is done and you plan on doing another scan in the future, quick scan will be sufficient. There is only one downside to using the free version of this software- you have to manually update it by clicking on the update button. If you are interested just do a Google search for them.

The second piece of software that I use is called Spyware Blaster. This is the program that I use to protect my computer by preventing malware and spyware from getting in. Notice the difference here: one program is used to scan and eliminate malware/spyware and the other tries to prevent it from ever coming in. Just download and install the program and it will provide you with full protection. With this program you are also going to have to manually update it, but hey its a lot better than paying for it.

What most people don’t know that is that if your computer is infected with spyware it can drastically slow down your computer. This is why it is critical that you take care of your computers health as much as possible.
