A Short Review of the Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard
As shown on the packaging, the Rii is a mini keyboard. And what that means is that in terms of size, it’s far smaller than a regular keyboard. Measuring a mere 5.9 inches by 2.3 inches by 0.5 inches, this device is a dwarf compared with the average 18in x 2in x 8in – and it’s a lightweight at 3.2 ounces. An Individual who places a premium price on portability will discover the compact size and weightlessness of the Rii a delight, being so convenient to carry around. Typing is quite easy on this little keyboard, which fits snugly between your hands.
This keyboard is terrific for using with your laptop computer or personal computer, and also your PS3 or any other gaming system that supports this gadget. Since this mini keyboard makes use of a Bluetooth wireless USB receiver for wireless connectivity, you don’t need to mess around with any wires, and plenty of devices are wireless now, making it uncomplicated to hook up this keyboard to your electronics. This mini keyboard features the usual laptop type of touchpad, as well as full QWERTY capability. A poorly lit working area won’t be any trouble as the Rii has 26 LED lights built into it. This mini keyboard uses two lithium ion batteries, which are included with the product and are also rechargeable.
On Amazon, the Rii has acquired numerous reviews, most of them giving this product 4 and 5 stars. But possibly this product’s first appearances are misleading, because there are also a few ratings falling between 1 and 3 stars. A maximum range of 30 ft for working fairly well with his Ubuntu system was described by one user. 30 feet is quite a respectable distance though. A pleasing feature for an individual with a multimedia application is that provison is made for control of a playlist and volume too. Often, one wants a button that is not regularly required; it’s good that this device caters for some of those rare needs which can be frustrating if not met.
Naturally, this review would be incomplete if it did not bring up the downsides. The touchpad functions quite well; all the same, it can be a bit of a pain as it isn’t always precise, unlike most regular laptop touchpads. The touchpad also has issues with recognizing taps; nonetheless, there are two mouse buttons, left and right, which can be used instead. Also remember that whilst it does have the QWERTY layout, the keys are set up in a grid with straight lines vertically and horizontally, whereas traditional keyboards have a bit of an offset in the vertical grids. Although it does take some getting used to, it is not a big deal.
The Rii is a terrific device for people looking for a small keyboard that features a touch pad. The price is fantastic, and the many positives make the few minuses seem petty.
